It takes more than an interesting idea to create a modern 3D video game. Game development teams often include programmers, artists, and designers who all work together to bring their creative vision to life. Junior 3D Game Design builds on the game development principles covered in Junior 2D Video Game Design. You will learn about 3D video game engines, art techniques, and gameplay concepts that video game developers use. Along the way, you’ll discover how academic subjects like math, writing, science, and art are key elements of the video game development process.
- Create fully 3D games: Learn about 3D video game development, including 3D game engines, user interface design, and 3D modeling, texturing, and animation.
- Go behind the scenes: Explore the math, science, art, and writing concepts that make the best video games so engaging and fun to play.
- Put your skills to the test: Apply your knowledge by creating your own fully playable 3D games, including artificial intelligence and physics.
Over the course of two weeks, we will be analyzing different games to break down their mechanics and aesthetics. Through this process, we will learn what makes games fun and interesting. These lessons can be applied to the games that we will make in the second week using a framework within ProjectFUN.
